Why we built it
The paper khata has a problem
For generations, shopkeepers across South Asia and Central Asia have managed customer credit, or Udaar, in a handwritten book called a khata. It is a trusted system built on relationships.
But paper khatas get lost in floods, fires and moves. Numbers fade and pages tear. There is no backup, no search and no easy way to remind a customer what they owe.
